What is 18th Edition Amendment 3?
Amendment 3 (2024) is a change to the 18th edition of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations. Similarly to the 18th Edition Amendment 2, it includes changes to the BS 7671. The amendment will be a free downloadable PDF bolt-on to the brown book (BS 7671:2018+A2:2022).
This emergency 3rd amendment was issued by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). The changes were available for draft comment in May 2024. This allowed electrical professionals to review and provide feedback on the proposed changes.
18th Edition Amendment 3 Release Date
The 18th Edition Amendment 3 will be available from 31st July 2024. This urgent amendment will be effective immediately after release.
You will require both Amendments 2 and 3 to comply with the IET Wiring Regulations after this date. This means you’ll need both the brown book and the bolt-on PDF. These editions will be valid until at least 2026.
How Does 18th Edition Amendment 3 Affect Me?
All electrical professionals will be affected by the changes to the Wiring Regulations. You’ll need to familiarise yourself with these changes and adjust work accordingly.

Make sure your organisation is working to the latest version of BS 7671 to ensure compliance. This way, you can reduce the risk of electrical incidents and give your clients peace of mind.
Amendment 3 and Clik’s NICEIC Cert Software
With these amendments, you’ll need to start using new 18.3 certificates to comply. We are currently building NICIEC electrical certificates following Amendment 3. These will be available in Clik’s NICEIC Cert Software soon.
You’ll be able to access the 18.3 certs in all applications, including Clik Cert Electrical. These changes will be available through a certificate update.

How to get started with the Amendment 3 certificates
The updated certificates are now available to use in Clik’s NICEIC Cert Software.
To get the new certs, follow these steps:
- Go to Help > Check for Certificate Updates to run the update process.
- We also recommend updating the software to make sure you are running the latest updates.
- Field users will also need to make sure their devices are running the latest version of the apps.
Active Clik Cover for the software will be required to use the new certs. Contact your account manager if you have any questions or need to renew your cover.
