Meet Jay
I usually wake up around 6:30, make a massive coffee and start getting ready for work. I always bring lunch so make sure I grab my meal prep and jump in the car.
As soon as I get to work, I make another coffee and pop all of my food in the fridge. I have my eggs on toast (yes everyone in the office hates me for it) and then catch up with my manager Jess if she’s working in the office and have a little gossip with Charlie who sits next to me.
I am a Marketing Assistant here at Clik, but my work is primarily focused on social media, creating video content, animation, and social media graphic design.
I usually log in and start the day by checking on our social media channels to see if we have had any questions, DMs or mentions. If we have, I make sure to respond and share. I then get on with my tasks for the day, which can vary from scheduling content, recording, and editing videos for TikTok and Instagram, creating graphics for posts or creating animation for promotional videos and ads.
I work as part of a two-person team with my manager Jess. Jess is a fantastic manager and always lets me try out new content ideas and trusts me to get on with my work. We’re also currently hiring for another member of our growing team so check out the role if you want to join us!
I always bring lunch in as I meal prep on a Sunday. At the moment I’m eating my lunch in the beer garden downstairs to get a bit of sun and I occasionally have a mooch around the charity shops on North Street to see if I can find any bargains.
My favourite part of my job is how creative it is. I have the luxury of having a manager that allows me to come up with content ideas as well as providing me with the means to execute them. I love making video content and find the editing process really fulfilling.
When I get home, I usually have something to do. I play bass in my band gürl so usually we have practice, recording or songwriting sessions. Other than that, I try and go to the gym if I can be bothered, or I’ll cook dinner for friends.
I was a massive scene kid when I was in my teens so now, as an elder emo, I listen to a lot of alternative music. In my heart of hearts, I know that my favourite bands are Arctic Monkeys, The Cranberries and The Beatles, but some of my favourite artists at the moment are Royal & The Serpent, Amyl and the Sniffers, Honey Revenge, Calva Louise and Viagra Boys. My favourite album is either ‘Humbug’ by Arctic Monkeys or ‘Abbey Road’ by The Beatles.
My favourite book is either the ’A Series of Unfortunate Events’ series by Lemony Snicket as it’s super nostalgic for me or ‘How to Kill Your Family’ by Bella Mackie.
My favourite film is probably The Grinch, don’t ask me why but it makes me feel warm.
I love ALL foods, but if I had to pick it would be between Asian food (particularly Chow Mein), Caribbean food or a McDonalds breakfast.
Apart from the obvious stuff, I never the leave home without a small bottle of perfume and snacks.
